No one can doubt that the Japanese have an eye for detail and are the Kings and Queens of all things kawaii. Floresta Nature Doughnuts have taken kawaii to the next level with their famous adorable animal doughnuts – you can find them as pigs, cats, frogs and seals. Originally from Nara but they have opened stores all around Japan including Kyoto, Osaka and Hiroshima.
Animal Doughnuts (¥250)
The doughnut base is a baked type of doughnuts – I’m not sure if all baked doughnuts taste this way but to me it was stale and dry. There was no flavour and the glaze seemed all for show. Sadly even the ears made out of almonds didn’t add much taste. I did also try Floresta in Hiroshima and it tasted the same – this may be the Japanese version of doughnuts?
Sadly these doughnuts do not look as taste as good as they look which is why I would not recommend going to try them. Cute to look at but I think that is all I can say :(
