Steven Ter Horst, Adelaide

Located in the heart of the city it’s a sin not to go to Steven ter Horst now that they are so close. What caught my attention this time was their new French Earl Grey Mousse gateaux (I adore milk tea cake). Lusciously soft earl grey mousse so delicate and fragrant with a apricot and peach jelly centre that felt like eating a soft apricot.

Some of our old favourites have gotten a face lift – the Nuts About Chocolate was surprisingly not too chocolate heavy. The whole gateaux is dipped in chocolate and almond to create a solid chocolate casing to house the hazelnut daquoise, chocolate cremeux and Chantilly cream.

The new face lift of our old favourites not only look great but has changed the taste and proportions (in a good way) :) Velvety smooth mascarpone mousse with a smear of gooey caramel on top of a thick slab of buttery cake (kinda a cross between a cake and biscuit). Love love love! I didn’t want to stop licking my fork.

Mascarpone Dream

FYI a dessert degustation is coming soon on the menu! Oh no you didn’t – that’s sure to get me on my feet to peddle down town when the time comes.
