Burger Theory – Be Friendly Burger

Well I wasn’t planning to try the new burger at burger theory as I thought I would be long gone and not actually have the chance. For all those that don’t know, Burger Theory are releasing a new burger every 2 weeks, check out their fb page for more details. I saw their fb post saying that they were in Victoria Square, 5 mins away from me when I just finished work. I had to go >:/ Check out their new diggs, I love the new paint job on Pearl. I was really surprised at how short the line was, I have never seen it this empty before … ever. I ordered from the truck, waited about 2 minutes and bam it was done, so incredibly fast.

For me the Be Friendly burger was a bit of a disappointment, costing $13 it better be freaking amazing. It was just so meaty and dry, I had no sauce at all and the only taste of the sauce I got was at the end, by that time the harm was already done and I just didn’t want the burger anymore. The apple flavour actually worked and wasn’t as weird as I thought it might taste. However, it needed some more veggies, or something to offset the meaty-ness. The bacon was amazing, so crispy, crunchy and chewy. Having to pay an extra $3 for the bacon I only got 2 tiny strips, it tasted great but it was quite dear to the pocket.

Be Friendly Burger

Be Friendly Burger – tart and chunky local apple slaw, smoky/spicy chipotle mayo, American cheese, Black Pig Berkshire sugar cured belly bacon ($13)

Verdict: The burger was alright but it wouldn’t be something I would get again. Incredibly expensive for something that tastes just a bit eh, you could just spend that $13 on a burger no.1 with chips and a drink.
